Omaha unfairly gets the reputation of a fly by city. "There's nothing to do in the Midwest" ... boo hoo. Man, how far from the truth this is. We have world class attractions right here.
Omaha, Nebraska is known for its diverse culture, rich history, and a number of world class attractions and landmarks. So, whether you are a fan of the cultures, history or the great outdoors, there is something for everyone in this bustling riverfront city. With its abundance of well-maintained destination spots, in addition to its immense civic pride, it is not surprising that more than 13 million people (about twice the population of Arizona) visit Omaha each year. Fun fact; steak tops the list of the things Omaha is most famous for. As a matter of fact, it is hailed as one of the best cities for steak in the United States. Here are a few places that you might consider visiting when you are in Omaha:

Omaha's Old Market:
This historic district is home to a number of interesting shops, galleries, and restaurants. Some interesting shops to stop by are; Old Market Artists Gallery, Old Market Sundries, Le Bouillion(I mean what is not to love with food, French cuisines to be precise), Juice Stop, Hollywood Candy(I mean, candy is life, right? I know I sound 5 years old and I’m okay) and Havana Garage- Cigar Lounge. There is a little something for everyone in this nice neighborhood.
The Durham Museum:
This museum is located in the former Union Pacific Railroad headquarters and features exhibits on the history of the American West. According to the Durham Museum website, ”Beautiful architecture blends with memories of a time gone by at The Durham Museum.”. From a description like that, this seems like a sight to behold. They are opened on Sunday from noon to 4 PM, they are closed on Mondays and reopen on Tuesday to Saturday from 10 AM to 4PM and are closed for major holidays. No outside food of any kind is permitted unless required for special dietary needs and is ADA accessible. Come through and enjoy while learning some American West history.
Omaha Children's Museum:
This museum is a great place to take kids and features interactive exhibits on science, art, and culture. According to TripAdvisor,” It’s Nebraska’s most-visited museum, and serves families with children primarily ages 8 and younger. Permanent exhibits include the Imagination Playground, a science center, Arts Smart Center, Zooland, Susie’s Station and the Grass Patch.” Bring your babies down to the Children Museum and let them create core memories in Omaha.
Bob Kerrey Pedestrian Bridge:
This bridge spans the Missouri River and offers great views of the city. The bridge is connected to more than 150 miles of nature trails, for those who love to hike and bike. On the Nebraska side lies Omaha Plaza, with an interactive water jet fountain. The plaza is surrounded by a large amphitheater- grass like space and guests are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and or blankets.
The Omaha Symphony:
This world-class symphony orchestra performs at the Holland Performing Arts Center and is a great place to see a show. Lifted from their website,” From the heart of Omaha’s vibrant music scene, there’s something for everyone. Orchestral, pop, rock ‘n roll, movie music- we've got it all!”. It is one of the top notched symphonies in the country. If you are a music lover, this spot is specially fashioned for you.
The Omaha Storm Chasers:
This Minor League Baseball team plays at Werner Park and is a fun outing for sports fans. For baseball fans, this should be on your list.
The Omaha Art Museums and Galleries:
This museum features a number of interesting exhibits on art and culture and is a great place to spend an afternoon

From the Joslyn Art Museum(which is actually pink!!) to the Hot Shops Art Center, there is plenty of art exhibits to be seen. And if you are shopping for a unique piece of art, you’ll find that Omaha’s galleries are filled with limited edition photography, paintings, hand-crafted sculptures, jewelry, ceramics and more.
